Summary/Objective
AMPORTS is seeking highly qualified candidates to perform technical support for our clients while working as a traveling technician between all our ports.
The technician will field all Help Desk calls from our end-users and create the initial record of the request.
The technician will also assist local technicians, network administrator and system architect.
Therefore, applicants must multi-task duties and prioritize client needs and schedules.
Highly qualified candidates will be self-starters, highly motivated, and eager to contribute to the organization's well-being while operating in a fast-paced environment.
The Technician will report to the network administrator for directions on a daily basis.
Responsibilities:
Set up workstations with computers and necessary peripheral devices (computers, laptops, scanners, printers etc.
)
Check computer hardware (HDD, mouse, keyboards etc.
) to ensure functionality.
Install and configure appropriate software and functions according to specifications.
Help to maintain and troubleshoot local networks in ways that optimize performance.
Assist in security and privacy of networks and computer systems.
Provide orientation and guidance to users on how to operate new software and computer equipment functions.
Perform troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve problems (repair or replace parts, debugging etc.
)
Maintain records/logs of repairs and fixes in helpdesk system.
Identify computer and peripheral shortages and place orders.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as IT Technician or relevant position.
Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication ability.
Outstanding organizational and time-management skills.
In-depth understanding of diverse computer systems and networks.
Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles.
Must be able to work nights and weekends.
Must be able to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time.
Must be able to lift 25lbs.
Must be able to obtain a TWIC card (Transportation Working Identification Credential)
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in Computer Science, engineering, or relevant field
Certification as IT Technician will be an advantage (e.
g.
, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network +Microsoft Certified IT Professional)
Experience will be equivalent to certifications.
Travel Expectations:
This position will be based at our Jacksonville, FL headquarters but will be expected to travel to our port locations in FL, MD, TX, and CA 75% of the time.
Schedule:
Hybrid work from home schedule with hours of operation usually 7am – 4pm.
