This position will be working at Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park assisting the Director of the camp with groups of youth in the ocean with planning, instructing and supervising activities.
Examples of Work
Assists Director of Ocean Camp with all youth activities including surfing, body surfing, shark teeth discovery, sand castle building, etc.
Assists with the youth on nature hikes.
Interacts with youth ages 8-14 on all levels.
Maintains and cleans the facilities and equipment daily.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of youth activities such as surfing, body surfing, shark teeth discovery, sand castle building, etc.
Skill with working with youth.
Ability to work with youth ages 8-14 and keep a constant eye on them at all times.
Ability to interact with youth.
Ability to maintain and clean the facility and equipment.
Ability to be outside in the heat for long periods of time.
Open Requirements/Supplemental Information
Must be able to swim a continuous 300 yards in a pool successfully.
This will be assessed by an Aquatics Trainer.
Must have a physical from the physician prior to working.
CPR/First Aid Certification is required prior to hire and must be maintained.
NOTES: All counselors are required to have tennis shoes and flip flops at all times.
Must be able to work various hours Monday-Friday.
